The communities of Shiloh and Michie, Tennessee, are heartbroken by the loss of a young woman whose light touched everyone she met. Annah Kate DeBerry, age 22, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2026, in Michie. Born on April 15, 2003, to Karen Johnson and the late Robert DeBerry, Annah’s life, though heartbreakingly brief, was a beautiful story of love, faith, and vibrant connection to her family and hometown.
When Annah Kate DeBerry graduated from Adamsville High School in 2021, she was regarded as a brilliant and kind young lady who was well-liked by both instructors and classmates for her sincere warmth and quick grin. She carried that same approachable energy into adulthood, approaching each day with optimism and an open heart that drew people naturally toward her.
In December 2025, during a joyful Christmas celebration, Annah became engaged to the love of her life, Scotty Elgin, marking the beginning of a future filled with shared dreams and unwavering commitment. The couple’s bond was one of mutual devotion and excitement for what lay ahead, a relationship built on trust, laughter, and the promise of building a life together. Annah’s happiness in this new chapter radiated outward, inspiring those around her to celebrate love in its purest and most hopeful form.
A woman of deep faith, Annah attended Riverview Baptist Church in Savannah, where she was baptized in December 2024, publicly affirming her trust in God and her desire to live with purpose and grace. Her spiritual life brought her comfort and direction, grounding her in values of compassion, forgiveness, and service that she practiced daily through simple acts of kindness toward family and friends.
To honor her beautiful life, visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Associated Family Funeral Home. Additional visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Shiloh Methodist Church, located at 275 Restricted Confederate Road in Shiloh, with funeral services to follow.
In her 22 years, she exemplified how to live with an open heart, deep faith, and joyful anticipation for the future. While her family and the communities of Shiloh and Michie mourn a devastating loss, they also celebrate a young woman who made the world brighter simply by being in it.
