With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alma “Ali” Mae Summers, age 51, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, who died peacefully at 7:11 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
Born and raised in the Metro East area, Ali built a life defined by deep devotion to her family and a distinguished career in public service that touched many lives through her professionalism and genuine care.
Ali was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother whose love for Micah, Andrew, and Benjamin shone in every aspect of her daily life. She nurtured her sons with patience, encouragement, and unwavering support, celebrating their achievements, guiding them through challenges, and filling their home with warmth, laughter, and security.
Her marriage to Micah was a partnership rooted in mutual respect, shared faith, and joy in both quiet moments and grand adventures. Ali balanced her demanding professional responsibilities with being fully present for her family, always making time for meaningful conversations, family traditions, and the little everyday moments that built lifelong bonds. Her children and husband were her greatest pride and deepest joy, and her legacy of love continues to sustain them through this profound grief.
In her professional life, Ali served the community with dedication and integrity, earning respect for her commitment to excellence and her compassionate approach to public service. Colleagues and those she assisted recall a woman who brought thoughtfulness, reliability, and a steady hand to her work, always prioritizing people and fairness.
She approached every responsibility with the same care she gave her family, leaving a positive mark on the organizations and individuals she served over many years. Ali’s career reflected a life oriented toward helping others, guided by strong values and a quiet determination to make a difference wherever she was needed.
She is survived by her husband of more than 18 years, Micah Summers, and their two sons, Andrew J. Summers (17) and Benjamin S. Summers (15), who were the absolute center of her world. Ali embraced adventure with enthusiasm—hiking the mountains of Colorado, exploring the waters of Hawaii and Mexico, and traveling internationally, including memorable trips to Rome—creating cherished memories that her family will hold forever.
Ali lived with grace, faith, and an adventurous spirit that enriched every season of her life. She found joy in travel, nature, and the simple pleasures of family time, always approaching new experiences with curiosity and gratitude. Her faith provided strength and perspective, and she shared that light generously with those around her. In Glen Carbon and the broader Metro East area, Ali was known as a warm, dependable friend and neighbor whose kindness and positivity left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the same location, with Pastor Dave Romoser officiating. These services offer family, friends, colleagues, former neighbors, and community members an opportunity to gather, share memories of Ali’s warmth and love, and support one another during this time of sorrow.
